Welcome to JSS3 on the web...and to Louisiana, a great place to
live and work. It is comprised of four distinct areas, perhaps
five: Northwest Louisiana (actually Far-East Texas!); Cajun
Louisiana starting casually at Lea's Lunchroom in LeCompte,
just south of Alexandria; the Feliciana Parishes (including
Baton Rouge); and..."The City" (New Orleans) with
the "bedroom communities" north of Lake Ponchartrain.
It's amazing how different the accents sound in each of
these areas. (We cringe when Hollywood attempts to depict
any of
the 4 or 5 different New Orleans accents.)
We
enjoy having visitors but you foreigners will enjoy the weather
during March when the azaleas and dogwoods are in bloom. Please,
do not come down here in July and August and complain about
the heat and humidity. Why do you think air-conditioning was
invented?! We work hard to afford it. (It ain't the heat, it's
the stupidity!)
If you are an Amateur
Radio Operator, bring your 2 meters & 440
rig. I'm usually listening on 145.23 or 146.79 and 444.60. These
repeaters are quite friendly and helpful to visitors.
Rebel & I
enjoy our annual vacation time spent with good friends on St.
John, USVI. I propose a toast to those who live there, those
who visit, and those who want to do either or both...
Slainte, Y'all
